It’s been proven that taking regular holidays is a stress busting health booster, but it seems the way we travel to those holidays isn’t quite as healthy. In fact, flying can be downright bad for you. It’s already been proven by the Association of Flight Attendants that people who have careers in the aviation industry are more at risk of dying from cancer, and now it’s become apparent why.
According to physicist Robert Parish, when you reach the average cruising
altitude of 39,000 feet in a plane you are subject to 64 times more radiation
than at sea level due to cosmic rays, which over time can seriously affect your
wellbeing.
Well not sure how true all this is ...lol... don't shot me if it's all crap!
Hey Rose lets all quit tomorrow & do what huh????...lol...
ReplyDeleteWe quit- join the insurance company & sell the remaining brave souls lots of insurance.......LOL....
ReplyDeleteBut must ask everyone to visit here, let Rose frighten them first!
You so easily frighten one meh????....lol....
DeleteAnd pls don't join the insurance company, pls spare them, you cant calculate for nuts...lol...
What if you give all your potential clients all the wrong info?
Since when agents got to calculate anything?
DeleteThey have all the ready tabulations & what nots.
It's very easy, my agent never need to do anything...LOL....
Hey Becca, they have to go for course & that's where you learn all the numbers I guess. You hate numbers you might fall asleep & snore!...lol...
DeleteI know..... it's easy lah, if I can go thru our training, I can go thru any training.
DeleteWhat can be worse than going down that damn slide of ours ????
Yup really hated the slides, the first time it feels like hell!!! Some girls like it though! I just don't understand.
DeleteRose you like it?
With you on that one, not really into slides!!!
DeleteHey I thought the average cruising altitude is 35,000 ft?
ReplyDeleteI think it depends where the plane is flying. If it's over some mountain ranges, it has to be really high I guess!
DeleteI always feel exhausted after a vacation!
ReplyDeleteI do feel completely exhausted after each flight. Nothing exhaust me like work! Could it be due to the cosmic rays ?
ReplyDeleteMore like it's because we work damn hard on board....lol...
DeleteI think up in the air it takes more effort to do anything. Time change, weather change, the stress of being confine in a small area, dry cabin air, cosmic rays, full flight with kids, special meals .... everything adds to this exhaustion ...haha....
DeleteAgree !:)
DeleteThe long haul night flights are the killers. It's unnatural for people to work at night , you are suppose to be resting. And when you need to work during these hrs, you'll feel extra exhausted! And if you keep doing it for years ... could really shorten your life...lol....
ReplyDeleteI think after a while the body get used to it, so... it shouldn't be a problem. We are very adaptable :D
DeleteDon't think my body will ever get used to it- hated night flights!
DeleteWhen you are young still can, but as you grow older, body cannot tahan! You look at those people who do perm night shift, they look older :(
DeleteI guess it affects all people differently. Some people are just more adaptable than the rest, so for those, nite flights are fine. For me, it really ruin my looks...lol.... my skin looks like hell without proper sleep ..arghhhh.....
DeleteAir travel is so competitive these days, airlines are under enormous pressure to reduce costs wherever possible. This has led to cramped conditions and poor air quality which have important health implications for passengers.
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing, try sitting in that cramp seat for 3 hrs or more- especially when you are "big". I hated it when after a wonderful vacation, you have to suffer in these seats before you reach home. All the good the vacation has done for you, vanished coz of these seats!!! End up whole body aching just before you reach home.....urgh.......
DeleteAlison, you just brought out the one thing why I dread abt all vacations- it's the journey back !!!!
DeleteHated long flights as well :(
DeleteIn the past year, some of my colleagues had been diagnosed with some pretty serious illness. We have been flying for a too long time. Could this be the result?
ReplyDeleteI don't know , but stumbling upon your blog & reading your post intrigues me. I'm with the airlines for 20 odd yrs & been pledged by all kinds of illness & pains. Retirement is round the corner & I cant wait. For you younger folks, you still have time to get out while you can.
Wow... welcome to my blog. Happy to see a veteran from our industry here. But sad to hear what's happening with your colleagues :(
DeleteThanks for the advice. Will take note.
Please do visit again, would love to hear from you.
